To make them easy to clean in multistorey buildings and to protect the sash from the wind.
-
They are about the same price. Please take into consideration that all windows and doors are completely finished with a top quality Sikkens product and don’t need painting on site. All hardware and handles are included.

This can be done by machining a deeper rebate into the sash to insert the double glazed unit (which is more than double the weight of the single unit). The sash loses strength. The maximum the double glazed unit can be is 16 mm which is not enough for proper insulation (but is the same cost as a 24 mm unit). Having double glazing and no seal between the sash and frame also doesn’t make sense. The price difference between new windows and retrofitting is in many cases about 25%. So why spending so much money on retroffiting when you can get brand new windows which are designed for double glazing for app. 25% more?!?

There are two options: the easiest will be to deal with uns directly- means to tell your Home Builder to take the windows out of the total cost for your house and get a seperate quote for the windows from us. Alternativly your Home Builder can incooperate the windows & doors in the total cost, but that might lead to an increase in cost due to margins put on top of our price. Out of experience many Home Builders will recommend the cheapest window option due to higher margins.

When maintained, timber has the longest life expectancy compared to any other window material. We replace a lot of 20-year-old aluminium frames with our timber joinery. When we replace ordinary wooden joinery (made of Douglas Fir), the windows are sometimes 80 to 100 years old and still not in a too bad condition. Aluminium cannot rot, but it corrodes and the coating fades. Handles and corner joints are weak points. We expect our windows and doors to last at least as long as the house!
-
No, for our frames and sashes we only use durable timber which does not need treatment. Treated timber is not a healthy option for you and for us in the workshop.
-
Yes, we build front entrance doors, side entrance doors and French doors that way.
-
This provides a superior thermal value (U-value), strength and resistance against warping and twisting. It also makes them extra-secure, and gives better fire protection than thinner or hollow doors and most doors of man-made materials.
-
Timber is a natural insulator and is a first class thermal break. The thresholds of the sliding doors and the bifold doors (aluminium) are thermally broken as well (as is compulsory in Europe)

Our timber windows are well able to withstand Central Otago’s cold, moisture, heat and strong sun.
As a general rule, 20 mm of the exterior is affected by the exterior moisture level and 20 mm of the interior is affected by the interior moisture level. Ordinary wooden joinery is only 40 mm thick. Our window and door frames are at least 68 mm thick (and up to 112 mm), giving them at least an extra 28 mm of unaffected core. This means ordinary windows can warp, but ours will not.
Another important aspect of Eurotech WinDoors® products is the three-layers of laminated timber which also keeps the windows straight and prevents warping and twisting.Eurotech WinDoors joinery is used in Central Otago for a couple of years now and our customers are happy to provide references about the product.

No, the curtain rail just needs to be slightly extended in some cases. Eurotech WinDoors® offers pleated blinds which can be fitted in the sash. They slide up and down and can be washed (at 30 C). There are 270 different designs available (also for triangular and arched windows). The most important feature is that the blinds tilt with the sash.

Yes – even after 20 years. Just change the handle (it has two machine screws) and plug in the computer.
-
Any colour can be mixed in the Sikkens paint system. It is possible to have different colours for the outside and inside.
-
Sure, that’s the standard now in Germany and Austria. The glass unit is 32 mm thick.
-
The aluminium shell can be fitted to our windows on site, even after a number of years. The exeption are bifold doors/windows and sliding doors/windows.
-
Our windows are 3D adjustable. The customer only needs an allen-key to adjust the units.
-
No, you will only need to sand the outside of the frames and sashes with fine sandpaper so the new coat keys to the existing one.
-
Yes, we give a price reduction on the blinds.
-
Yes, we require a deposit before we start producing as we already have pre- paid all the timber and the hardware required. We stock timber and hardware for many houselots as we buy in bulk. We do this to be able to proovide fair prices.

We use the Sikkens system for opaque colours and wood stains, which have been successfully tried and tested in Central Otago. Opaque colours can last up to 10 years and woodstains up to seven years.
